Treating COVID-19 Vaccine adverse effects
Why do we care?
- If the vaccine is safe, why are there people not taking it?
- Could it be because they are not receiving the treatment they need to bear through their symptoms for this vaccine?
- Or maybe the vaccine is not as safe as we thought?
- How can we fix it so everyone can safely take the vaccine?
What kind of medication would help our patients after taking the vaccine?

The datasets came from VAERS and CDC:
- https://vaers.hhs.gov/data/datasets.html? - For the amount of people who got adverse effects from the vaccine
- https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#vaccinations_vacc-total-admin-rate-total - For the amount of people who got vaccinated
For this project, there was a lot of data to cleanup and python was used to do the heavy lifting and saved back two data sets:
Next, let R load the data and modifies them to make them suitable in fulfilling the objectives while also making it lighter, and then saves it back to an R data image to make the the application run faster
Finally, the Shiny R application loads the R data image, and loads the application to present the graphs.
Overall Symptom count:
For the most common symptoms, females ages 12 and older would only need over the counter medication. But males and children under the age of 18 would need treatment for Pyrexia.
Overall life-threatening or critical symptoms:
According to the application, it looks to have similar results for both male and female for most age groups. However, the Pyrexia ends up being the most common critical symptom in children between five and seventeen.
Fatal Symptom count:
The most common symptom causing deaths appears to be the same for all genders across all and most manufacturers. For children under 12, there was only three deaths reported in the data, two of those cases was from Pyrexia and the other one being rash. For adults ages 12 to 50, it is Dyspnoea that needs to be treated. What is ironic about the "COVID-19" symptom being the most common fatal symptom from COVID-19 shots is for the fact that people who got the COVID-19 vaccine are still dying of COVID-19. Either the real fatal symptoms are something else and just labeled as "COVID-19", or the COVID-19 vaccine is not really doing much to protect people against COVID-19.
Overall Count by gender:
It is possible that the reason why there are more death cases in males than females is because the symptoms that males commonly experience tend to be more serious than the symptoms that are most common with females. Therefore males will need stronger medication that would treat the more serious symptoms that males might be experiencing.
Overall Count by Age Group:
It seems from the overall count, the older people are, the more problematic their symptoms are. For this case, the elderly would need treatment the most since they are the most vulnerable.
Overall Count by Manufacturer:
Because the vaccine with the most amount of critical and death cases came from the Pfizer vaccine, people who take the Pfizer vaccine may need a bit more serious treatment. But higher stock of over-the-counter treatment maybe needed for those who took the Moderna shot.
