Anne Chen has a Masters degree in Bioengineering from the University of Pennsylvania. It was there where she developed a passion for programming and realized the importance of data-driven approach and quantitative analysis. As part of her coursework she built a predictive model to determine the production thresholds and visualize the relationships of molecules which play a crucial role in binding tumor suppressors. Prior to working at a biotech startup developing a liver cancer diagnosis device, Anne researched and evaluated open-source Electronic Health Records software for small-scale hospitals as a Health Information Technology Consultant at Technical Consulting & Research, Inc. Her final project was to build a museum recommendation system which not only reflected her interests in art but also demonstrated her ability to web scrape, construct pipeline of codes, engineer features, and create interactive user interface. The system transformed museum description and visitor reviews into numeric value via natural language processing and computed the consine similarity to suggest museums to user.
