Joseph holds a Master of Bioengineering from the University of California (San Diego), and a double BS in Molecular and Cell Biology and Chemistry from the University of Texas (Austin). He knew he wanted to become a Data Scientist while doing his graduate research where he applied machine learning algorithms and computer vision techniques on volumetric fluorescence time-series data to generate 3-D cell migration tracks. He is interested in entrepreneurial endeavors, the intersection of technology and teaching, and enrolled in NYC Data Science Academy to acquire practical experience in data science, and specifically Python, R, and parallel computing. For his Capstone Project he was part of a team tackling Kaggle EEG competition, which focused on identifying hand motions from EEG (brain activity) recordings.
