WIth a unique background in music composition + technology, cognitive science, and data science and extensive experience in machine learning R & D and software engineering, Alex Sigman has a passion for adding value to data, gaining actionable insights, and implementing innovative solutions through creative and effective problem solving.
He is currently a Music Software Engineer at Amper Music, an AI-driven music technology startup whose products enable clients to generate customized music in seconds. Previously, he was a founding faculty member of the International College of Liberal Arts of Yamanashi Gakuin University in Kofu, Japan, a music professor at Keimyung University in South Korea, and a Digital Audio Technology and Digital Entrepreneurship instructor at Cogswell Polytechnical College in Sunnyvale, CA. He also collaborated with the Sound Perception and Design research team at IRCAM (Paris) on an interdisciplinary project dealing with the design and implementation of modified car alarm systems, and co-founded an arts education non-profit in Menlo Park, CA.
Sigman earned a BA in Cognitive Science and a BM in Music from Rice University, graduating magna cum laude. He obtained his MA and doctorate in Music Composition from Stanford. In 2019, Sigman completed the NYCDSA data science boot camp.
